Texas State University needed to expand its on-campus housing and accommodate for the demolition of some aging facilities. JQ provided structural engineering services for the design and construction of a new 612-bed residence hall designed in a Spanish Colonial style to reflect the University’s master plan and the surrounding buildings. This six-story, 185,000 SF facility features two identical wings joined by a two-story, 8,000 SF commons area. The project utilized a long span concrete on metal deck floor system which spanned between load bearing cold framed metal stud walls.
