Ovi brings more than 15 years of experience to JQ in civil engineering design. He has extensive experience on a wide range of project types — including roadway reconstruction, drainage analysis and design, and water and wastewater distribution systems design. In addition to civil design, Ovi has implemented geographical information systems (GIS) for an array of civil and utility projects, developing GIS databases for utilities and infrastructure. A native of Romania who relocated to the United States in 2000, Ovi serves as JQ’s Civil Department Manager in Dallas.

Talk to me about: Traveling. I take all the travel opportunities I get. Travel gives me the chance to meet new people, understand other cultures, explore different cuisines, break away from my routine and learn how to adapt. It makes everyone better, more well-rounded human beings.

What’s the greatest risk you have ever taken: Leaving the Romania and not knowing what to expect

What made you want to become an engineer: I’ve always been attracted to science and mathematics. Engineering seemed the right way to go. To cite one of my favorite quotes from Confucius: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

What are you most passionate about in your profession: If you say you’ll do it, do it and do it right!
