Jessica Simon Recognized as Rising Star by Civil + Structural Engineer Magazine

JQ is pleased to announce that Associate Jessica Simon, P.E., LEED AP has been named as a 2016 Rising Star in Structural Engineering by the Zweig Group’s Civil + Structural Engineer magazine. Simon is one of only 10 structural engineers in the nation selected in the magazine’s fifth annual Rising Stars in Structural Engineering awards program.

According to the magazine, the Rising Stars in Structural Engineering represent structural engineers 40 years old or younger working in the United States who have shown exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching or research, and/or public service benefiting the structural engineering profession, their employers, project owners, and/or society.

“Jessica consistently demonstrates outstanding technical abilities, highly effective leadership skills and is actively involved in professional and public outreach programs that benefit our profession and society. She epitomizes our company’s commitment to developing and maximizing people’s potential, and we are very proud of her contributions to our firm, clients and communities,” says Stephen H. Lucy, PE, CEO of JQ.

Jessica’s structural engineering experience spans a variety of industries, including higher education, government, healthcare and commercial. Her experience includes serving as project manager for the 200,000 sf Engineering Building at the University of Texas at Dallas and for a Visitor Center at the Manila American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines. An active member of several industry organizations including the Structural Engineers Association of Texas, American Institute of Steel Construction and American Society of Civil Engineers, Jessica has also served on the Associates Board of ACE Mentoring and currently as an inaugural member of the Future Engineers Advisory Committee (FEAC) for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE). She holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, both from Texas A&M University.
