JQ has been awarded the contract to provide structural engineering services for the adaptive reuse of the Historic Auction Arena building located in the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards area, according to JQ’s principal Carlo Taddei, PE.

“JQ’s scope of engagement is two-fold,” says Taddei. “We are working with Commerce Construction, LP, the developer’s general contractor, on renovations and repairs to the building’s core and shell space. We are also working with Bennett Benner Partners on the tenant finish-out for Rural Media Group’s new RFD-TV multi-media broadcast studio. It’s an exciting project for us because it draws upon our expertise in adaptive reuse.”

The Auction Arena is located adjacent to the Livestock Exchange Building on East Exchange Avenue in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. The existing structure is approximately 7,600 sf, and the building shell consists of load-bearing concrete masonry exterior walls, steel roof joists and steel trusses. Once the core and shell repairs/renovations are completed, JQ will work with Bennett Benner Partners on the tenant finish-out for Rural Media Group’s RFD-TV broadcast studio.

“Being on this project team is an honor. We appreciate the opportunity to work with both Majestic Realty and Bennett Benner Partners to further a legacy where so much history has occurred,” says Taddei. JQ has worked on multiple projects associated with the Stockyards redevelopment since 2015. Construction of RFD-TV’s broadcast studio is targeted for completion in spring 2019.
