Flocculation and Sedimentation Basin Improvements, Eastside Water Treatment Plant

Dallas Water Utilities

This project consisted of the detailed design of more than 10,000 LF of underground utilities — including chemical piping, plant water, plant drains, electrical duct banks and an 84-inch-diameter ozonated water pipe. JQ developed construction phasing to keep services in operation during construction. The firm also provided structural engineering and geotechnical investigation oversight of the Eastside WTP Water Quality Improvements program. This program included a complete overhaul of the existing filter complex to include filter-to-waste facilities. Navigating the numerous existing utilities throughout the plant, JQ played a key role in the design and constructability of the extensive flume and junction structure system required to facilitate the improvements. Additionally, the required flocculation/sedimentation basin improvements completed rehabilitation of the process mechanical systems, as well as significant structural rehabilitation and stabilization of the existing basin complex.
