Parkland Health and Hospital System

The central utility plant provides steam, chilled water and hot water to the 64-acre Parkland Memorial Hospital campus, which includes the adjacent 1,937,000 SF acute care hospital, as well as administration, logistics and professional office buildings. The CUP houses the steam-generation system — including boilers, chillers, the energy management control center, the fire protection system, seven 3 MW diesel-powered emergency generators, utility distribution for the campus, switchgears for electrical systems, and all associated equipment and materials. A five-cell, 41,250 GPM cooling tower is situated on a structural steel grillage on the roof. The adjacent mechanical yard includes an 880,000-gallon emergency water tank, a diesel fuel tank, an electrical substation, hospital gas storage and other functions.
