The Aggie team has landed!
JQ sponsored this years Aggie team during the Solar Decathlon competition in Washington, D.C. After arriving in D.C. on October 3rd the student team spent the next 8 days preparing and reconstructing their entry for the competition.
With the close of the Solar Decathlon competition on Friday, October 19th, 2007 Texas A&M finished 17th overall, ahead of Kansas (18th), Cornell (19th), and Lawrence Tech (20th).
The Aggies scored well on the appliance contest (1st place), the market viability contest (8th place), and the comfort, hot water and getting around contests (9th place for each). Unfortunately, the depletion of the batteries on Wednesday evening by the dehumidifier robbed them of the electricity needed to finish strong on Friday.
The national chapter of the AIAS (student affiliate of the AIA) rated the Texas A&M first overall. The Aggie students appreciate that recognition from their peers.
JQ is one of 8 corporate sponsors of the Aggie team made up of former students, companies and other friends. All of whom made this experience possible through their support.
The team and the groHome design are winners already, haven already won this summer's Livecycle building Challenge of the EPA and AIA. The presentation was made in San Francisco last month. For more detailed, go to:
