Home to Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Islanders basketball and volleyball teams, the “Dugan” holds over 1,200 fans. The facility includes two regulation NCAA basketball courts and locker rooms, including two for student athletes with special needs. There is also, two 2,000 SF multipurpose rooms, group exercise areas including a cardio room with televisions and a 9,000 SF strength and conditioning facility. It is also the home of the offices for the Islanders Athletics and Recreational Sports staff. The project also included the design and construction of an Emergency Operations Center for the campus. This facility was needed to keep critical functions for the campus operational during emergency events. Both facilities were designed and constructed to meet windstorm design criteria. JQ provided Civil and Structural Engineering and Survey Services for the project.
