Mills Creek/Peaks Branch Drainage Relief
Construction Delivery Method: NA
The City of Dallas is proposing construction of a 4-mile long, 30-foot diameter stormwater diversion tunnel that will be used as flood control. This project consists of a study to predict the water quality changes of the detained stormwater and evaluating the effects on the discharge of stormwater from the tunnel into the Trinity River. Data from actual stormwater sampling was used as input for calculations to model the impact to receiving stream quality. Predicting silt loading from runoff and deposition within the tunnel using a soil loss model program was used to predict the potential for silt build-up in the tunnel over time.
