The Nylo South Side, once home to the Dallas Coffin Company when originally constructed in 1911, is now a vibrant boutique hotel anchoring Dallas’ South Side redevelopment. Plans for the renovation of the 5-story masonry and concrete structure included a rooftop amenities deck with pool, and new service cores for vertical circulation which posed numerous structural challenges. JQ employed innovative strategies for evaluating and modifying the historic structure including load testing, GPR, helical pile foundations, and CFRP reinforcing. Close collaboration between the design team and Owner kept the historic integrity in tact while creating a successful and sustainable building for future generations.
