The Grand Hotel at Coushatta
Cost: $6 million
Construction Delivery Method: Construction Manager at Risk
Coushatta Resorts needed to bring its flagship luxury hotel, The Grand Hotel at Coushatta up to the standards of its newer properties. JQ provided structural engineering design services for the the redesign and replacement of the exterior building envelope, including windows and roof. All of the existing exterior materials were removed and a new building exterior was constructed. The entire casino and portions of the hotel were to be kept operational during construction thus necessitating the work to be done in two phases. High loads were required to be able to withstand hurricane force winds. During construction, JQ also analyzed the existing lower roof structure to support the weight of scaffolding that was erected around the entire building perimeter, which in many cases included supports directly above on-going casino operations.
