Texas State University
Gaillardia and Chautauqua Halls at Texas State University in San Marcos feature 185,000 SF of dormitory and multipurpose space. A two-story, 8,000 SF common space links the two six-story dormitories. The project utilized a long-span concrete-on-metal deck floor system spanning load-bearing, cold-framed metal stud walls. The lateral load-resisting system consisted of both steel plate metal shear walls and concentrically braced steel frames. Additionally, several self-supported brick arches are present at the main entrance.
