Sam Rayburn House Repair and Barn Stabilization
Texas Historical Commission
This project was located at the Sam Rayburn House in Bonham, Texas. The assessment of the house structure found minor sagging of some floor joist members and one beam member at the front porch, as well as inadequate grading around and under the house. Supplemental supports were added in the crawl space, the front porch beam was reinforced, grading improvements were made under and around the house, and the perimeter drain system was repaired to help minimize the impact of uneven moisture levels in the active clay soils. The barn stabilization project consisted of the structural assessment and preparation of a stabilization plan for a wood-framed barn structure.
