Chilling Station No. 7

The University of Texas at Austin

The new utility plant provides steam and chilled water for The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School campus. The facility includes a three-story energy plant, a large cooling tower and a 5.8-million gallon thermal energy water storage tank. The plant is unmanned and monitored from the main campus energy plant. All boilers and chillers are variable-speed and adapt energy output precisely to meet energy demand. The resulting plant is so efficient that the university can provide thermal energy to the initial phases of the new medical school campus without requiring additional power-generating capacity.
