The two-story addition to existing Mason Middle School building is located on the North side of the pre-existing middle school on the campus. The addition houses classrooms, administrative offices and a lobby area referred to as Amon G. Carter Commons. Renovations to the existing building included the removal of interior walls and conversion of several laboratories to conventional classrooms. The Sid Richardson Visual Arts Center included the renovation and expansion of the former campus cafeteria into art studios and classrooms. About 70% of the pre-existing brick walls were removed and replaced with large glass windows to allow natural light to enter and create the optimum artistic space.
