The new Recreational Sports Facility was built to bring the activities and class instruction that had been held in multiple buildings across the campus into one state-of-the-art facility. It consists of a three-court multipurpose gymnasium, four racquetball courts, strength training, rock climbing wall, cardio theatre, aerobics room, martial arts room, men's and women's locker rooms, two classrooms, control desk, administrative offices, sand volleyball courts, outdoor basketball court, outdoor patio, and provisions for a future outdoor pool. The 72,000 SF facility was designed to interface with the University's main campus via a plaza and sweeping curvilinear curtainwall at the cardio theatre and strength training areas. Large glazed areas allow views into the cardio theatre, rock climbing wall, gym, martial arts and aerobics rooms. Exterior materials include the utilization of the campus standard brick, cast stone, champagne colored curtainwall, bronze glazing and stucco. JQ provided Civil and Structural Engineering and Surveying services for the project.
