Description:
The project involved civil engineering services for the design of the new
SBC bus shelters and site development at the SBC Center (NBA arena) located
along Houston Street. The length of the new bus shelter area is approximately
420 linear feet. The curbs and bus lanes (lane pavements) had been constructed
and were already in place at the site. The scope of work involved redesigning
the new sidewalk and new retaining wall between the existing curb and
existing
retaining wall along the parking lot to the back of the bus shelter area.
The plan also required preparing an elevation and dimensional control
plan and new grading plan for the new retaining walls and site
developments.
Jaster-Quintanilla
prepared a dimensional
control plan locating new improvements horizontally in relationship to
the project boundary and existing improvements, and also prepared
a site grading and drainage plan showing finish grade contours and surface
drainage
patterns for required storm water flows. Storm water drainage will be
by sheet flow away from the bus shelters. Landscape drainage
will be by area drains in the landscape areas with drain lines passing
under the new sidewalk and draining to the curb line in front of the
bus shelters.
